Amaroq (name taken from Julie of the Wolves) is a young spirit guardian and protector. He’s three fourths husky and one fourth wolf. He’s just a puppy right now—it hasn’t gotten through his thick skull that he’s suppose to be guarding the cemetery, NOT digging up its residents.

I always go with design heavy and creepy/gore, so I decided to do something cute and goofy and different for this contest. I got a big laugh out of giving him a crack in the head, picturing him running around and splitting his skull on a gravestone or something. I really wanted to enter another of Amaroq when he was older and wiser, but I just didn't have the energy or tools to make that happen. I had a lot of fun making this piece though, and i'm glad I was finally motivated enough to go through with a contest!

Done with acrylic, water color, and pen.
